As a member of a three-person team, I contributed to the design of a mobile app called "MomsNet." This app provides an inclusive support network for single mothers in British Columbia, allowing them to connect with each other in their local neighborhoods and build a safe, loving community. Through this app, mothers also have the opportunity to empower and support one another by exchanging services and acts of kindness. Take a look at our design to see how we created a user-friendly platform that fosters a strong sense of community among single mothers.
The goal of this project was to create a mobile app that provides emotional support to users going through similar struggles and situations. The app allows users to meet others and build a supportive network in their local area. To relieve financial strain, we offer an exchange of services between members to help them save money. Additionally, we aim to create a platform that encourages users to build new experiences and support one another. Check out my portfolio to see how we brought these goals to life through our design.
Research played a pivotal role in shaping our project's direction. Thorough online research and insightful interviews with single mothers provided invaluable perspectives on their experiences and challenges. As the team leader, I facilitated constructive meeting discussions, sharing and analyzing our findings to gain deeper domain understanding. This process enabled us to pinpoint the design problem and devise a comprehensive solution. To maintain visual consistency and shared goals, we created a style guide, ensuring everyone collaborated towards a unified and aesthetically aligned mobile app design.
Our persona, crafted from online research and stakeholder interviews with mothers, provided deep insights into user motivations and pain points. This understanding empowered us to make informed design decisions tailored to meet their specific needs. As a first-time persona creator, I recognized the value of this step in the design process, and it became an essential tool for aligning our team's efforts and effectively communicating the user's domain to other stakeholders.
The user journey map visualized crucial touchpoints and emotions throughout the app interaction, guiding us to prioritize features for a seamless user experience. By addressing identified pain points and leveraging moments of delight, we ensured our mobile app resonated profoundly with our target users. This map served as a constant reference point, aligning our design decisions with user needs and consistently supporting our project's objective of creating an effective and user-friendly mobile app.
Overall, this project has been a great opportunity for me to grow my skills in UX design, which I believe is a crucial element in creating successful products. Through working with other designers and stakeholders, I have learned to better understand and incorporate different perspectives in order to create an effective solution that truly meets the needs of our target users. One of the key challenges we faced was how to provide emotional support to single mothers in a way that was both accessible and meaningful. Our solution involved not only creating a user-friendly platform, but also building a supportive community where users could connect with others who were going through similar experiences. By prioritizing user feedback and iterating on our design, we were able to create a final product that we are all proud of and that we hope will have a positive impact on the lives of single mothers everywhere.
